  1. Poignant commentary on days past. I visited 5th AF Hq in 1973 when I was doing the legwork of transferring all of the Okinawa Air Defense Sector with radar sites to the JASDF. Brings back memories.

  2. Was stationed there with the 1956 Comm Gp Feb 59 to Jan 62. I worked in the Plan 55 Switching Center. Anyone still out there??

    1. I WAS WITH THE 1956 AACS FROM APRIL 58 TO APRIL 59 (6 MONTHS IN KOREA, OSAN AIR BASE) CUT JAPAN TOUR IN HALF)..DURING MY TOUR THERE IT WAS A TORN-TAPE RELAY STATION. TALK ABOUT NOISE!!! MANY GOOD MEMORIES, BUT NO PHOTO’S. WHAT A SHAME THAT THE BASE HAS BEEN LEFT TO CRUMBLE. FROM FUCHU WENT TO ROBINS AFB IN GEOGIA, THEN TO MISAWA AFB NORTHER HONSHU ISLAND JAPAN..IT WAS SO FAR OUT OF EVERYTHING THAT OVER-SEAS PAY STAYED IN PLACE AND IT WAS ONLY A 2 YEAR TOUR……

  3. I was stationed there in 1964-65 at first with plan 55 the cross trained to IBM and ended up with Systems control and analysis. I was shocked to see what has become of the base.
