Clay Head @ A Fly in Amber

My story Clay Head published at A Fly in Amber!

There’s a giant head in my living room. It’s made of grey clay, and it sings through the night.

It sings songs about America. Sometimes boogie-woogie or the Big Bopper. It sings Buddy Holly. It sings about the plane that crashed and sometimes the song about the crash. It sings about whiskey and rye.

I don’t know why the head sings. I don’t know why the head is in my room, or why I let it stay.

  1. Ah. Took me a while to get to this one. First off, I have to say it seems to me the weirdest of your stories that I’ve read so far. I enjoyed reading it, though I did get a little confused at the end as to what actually happened to the Clay Head and when. Bonus points for making reference to the song American Pie, which is a big favorite of mine…

Hey Jeremy, thanks for commenting. It is a weird story- as for what happens at the end, I know what you mean, it’s a little vague. I was inspired by a short film that I saw- it was pretty amazing- a guy and a girl were moving in fast motion around a giant clay head that was singing the song: “America the Beautiful” in a high voice. It was some weird art. I just changed the music and put the viewpoint from the guy’s perspective.

I need to write some more kick-ass stuff. All this sad emotional stuff is ok, but people like to read kick-ass stuff for variety too.
